Changes to The Family Independence Program

Key Provisions of the Rhode Island Works Program (6.08)
The House of Representatives passed a state budget that drastically transformed Rhode Island's welfare program (the Family Independence Program) and replaces it with the "Rhode Island Works Program."  One of out five people - most of them children - receiving cash assistance will lsoe their benefits in the coming months.  This two -page summary outlines the new provisions including changes to the time limit for cash assistance, sanction policies, and eligibility rules. 

Summary Of State Welfare Time Limits (11.07)
There is a great deal of confusion regarding how long states allow residents to receive cash assistance.  Contrary to popular belief, Rhode Island's time limits are not longer than most other states.
