Individual donations are critical to the Institute’s ability to carry out our work.  In addition to annual contributions, we can accept:

  • pledges over multiple years
  • transfers of securities
  • life income gifts
  • deferred gifts and bequests

The Poverty Institute receives no government funding.  Financial support comes from foundations, corporations, and individuals who care about social change and economic justice.

THE NANCY H. GEWIRTZ FUND for THE POVERTY INSTITUTE

In 2005, an endowment was established in memory of the Institute’s beloved co-founder, Nancy Gewirtz.  Your contribution will provide a perpetual source of annual income for The Poverty Institute.  The Fund is managed by the Rhode Island Foundation, which has a national reputation for financial performance.  All gifts to the Fund are tax-deductible.

THE POVERTY INSTITUTE 2009 ANNUAL REPORT
The Poverty Institute is celebrating its 10th anniversary! We could not have reached this important milestone without the generous support of our individual donors, philanthropic partners and colleagues in the community. Together, we have worked hard to improve the economic well-being of our low- and modest- income neighbors.

Our 2009 Annual Report features comments from our colleagues, a timeline of important accomplishments, an overview of our revenue and expenses, and a list of our loyal donors.
